Flights

Looking for cheap flights to the IUPAB 2014 Conference?

The Greater Brisbane area is serviced by two international airports – the main Brisbane airport, and the Gold Coast airport at Coolangatta, about 90 km south of the Brisbane CBD. While Brisbane has the largest number of international flights passing through it, several discount international airlines operate through the Gold Coast airport, allowing significant savings to be made, particularly for student delegates.

Direct flights are available between Brisbane and Los Angeles, Hawaii and Dallas (Qantas and Hawaiian), and major cities in Asia and the Middle East (multiple airlines).  For more information on Qantas flights please visit www.qantas.com.au.

Following arrival at Brisbane airport, delegates can quickly (about 45 minutes), easily and cheaply reach Brisbane CBD hotels and the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre by suburban train (Airlink), using a station located adjacent to the airport terminal. For more information on public transport options, please visit; www.translink.com.au

Gold Coast airport (http://goldcoastairport.com.au/)

Air Asia is offering super-cheap fares from all over Asia, India and the Middle East to the Gold Coast Airport, via their hub in Kuala Lumpur. Air Asia has recently double their flights between Kuala Lumpur and Gold Coast to a daily service! For more information on Air Asia flights visit http://www.airasia.com/au/en/home.page

Additionally, the Australian discount carrier Jetstar (http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/home) operates flights between the Gold Coast and Japan, and the Scoot airlines (http://www.flyscoot.com/index.php/en/) flies between the Gold Coast and its hub in Singapore, allowing connections with a wide network of destinations in north Asia.

Travel between the Gold Coast International Airport and Brisbane is straight forward and takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the time of day. Delegates can catch a suburban bus outside the terminal (Translink bus route 761) to connect at the Varsity Lakes train station with the Brisbane-Gold Coast suburban train network. For more information on public transport options, please visit; www.translink.com.au

*We are pleased to announce a special rate on Airtrain fares. An Airtrain 'return fare' discount letter can be accessed by  clicking here. Delegates just need to print and present the letter at an Airtrain ticket office at airport terminals to receive their discount.
