Professor Keiichi Namba is currently a professor at the Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences, Osaka University. In addition to this position, Keiichi is a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Gene Research, Nagoya University, and a Visiting Chief Researcher at the Riken Harima Institute.

In 1980 Profesor Namda graduated from the Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University, and from 1980 - 1981 he went on to complete his Postdoctoral Fellow (JEPS) at Osaka University. After completing his postdoctoral, Prof. Namba became a Research Associate at the Brandeis University for 4 years (1981 - 1984), and after completing one more year as a Research Associate - in 1985 he became a research Instructor at the Vanderbilt University. Returning to Brandeis Univeristy in 1986 Prof. Namba became a senior Research Associate, however moved on quickly in the same year to become a Group Leader for the Molecular Dynamic Assembly Project, ERATO, JRDC, where he stayed to 1991. In 1992 Prof. Namba became a Research Director at the Matsushita International Institute for Advanced Research, where he stayed to 1999. During his role as a Research Director, in 1997 - Prof. Namba became a Project Director for the Protonic NanoMachine Project ERATO JST, which he continued through to 2003. In 2001, Prof. Namba also become a Visiting Chief Researcher at the Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute. After completing his role as a research Director, from 2002 - 2008, Prof Namba also became a project director at the Dynamic NamoMachine Project, ICORP, JST.

Prof. Namba has won many awards during his career; Osaka Science Prize (2001), Visual Science Festa 2002 Distinguished Award (2002), The 2009 Biophysical Society Founders Award (2009), European Molecular Biology Organization Associate Member (2009), American Academy Microbiology Fellow (2010) and the Imperial Prize and Japan Academy Prize (2012).
