Tao Xu

Tao Xu, Professor, Director of Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Tao Xu received his B.S. and Ph. D. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. From 1996 to 1999 he undertook postdoctoral work with Prof. Erwin Neher in the Department of Membrane Biophysics at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Goettingen, Germany. After that he spent 2 years as a senior Research Fellow with Prof. Bertil Hille at the Department of Physiological and Biophysics at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. In 2000 he returned to the Institute of Biophysics and Biochemistry at Huazhong University as a Professor. In 2003 he moved to the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Beijing, and was appointed as the Director there since 2007.
